Citrovia
The Cuttlefish
Role: Producing Company
End Client: Brookfield Properties
The Brief
Brookfield Properties are experts at Placemaking which is the ability to dream of and construct new destinations around the world. One of their latest projects is Manhattan West; a new neighborhood located just west of Moynihan Station in New York City. This location is home to a variety of mixed use space, retail, residential and office. It also plays host to a large public space centrally located within the 2 square blocks of the development. Manhattan West Tower 2 will be under construction until 2023 and as such requires a large “shed” structure installed onto the plaza to protect from the construction above. This created a wonderful opportunity to utilize the existing elements in a new way to generate foot traffic through the plaza.
The Solution
Working with the necessary structural components such as the “shed” as well as the planter beds; we designed, developed and installed a whimsical lemon garden aimed to be a destination which encouraged people to spend time, take pictures and interact with the various physical and digital touchpoints throughout the plaza.
The Results
Citrovia opened to very positive fanfare making publications such as: The Wall Street Journal, Architectural Digest, The New Yorker, and more.
