The Brief
TD Ameritrade hosts a LINC sales meeting each year to educate and train their employees. A annual centerpiece of the sales meeting is the 5K road race for charity. Community and charitable donations are an important aspect of the event each year and TD Ameritrade was looking to help increase participation by altering the format of the 5K to something that was more sustainable and could engage an audience that typically may not have been part of a traditional road race.
The Approach
TD Ameritrade was looking for an innovative way to engage LINC attendees to participate in a corporate giving activity. Building on the idea of the 5K road race, we constructed a virtual reality bike race where attendees race the clock and pick up “power ups” to add to their individual giving total. A display shows the scoreboard and allows the attendees to engage in friendly competition to see who can generate more during their 2:30 ride.
VR Bike Race: Productized Service
With the success of the project, we were able to create easily skinable versions of the experience for budget conscious clients to be able to deliver for their live events
The Results
We were able to complete over 1000 rides during the course of the 5 day event as well as raise over $25,000 for charity.
