END CLIENT:  Advance Auto Parts

The Brief

Design a technology stack to install in stores, that reduces customer friction and increases confidence of finding the right part quickly, without the intervention of Team Members. Use screens in store to personify Advance’s “Know How.” Develop an in-store analytics system to quantify changes to store layout, and prove the efficacy of newly installed systems.

The Approach

Develop a lightweight technical system that can be installed with minimal store disruption, and intervention from Team Members. Create a mechanism for rapidly publishing which would bring created content to store screens. Redefine the Product Selection assistant experience for 5 categories, leveraging an aging and cumbersome AAP backend. Provide a path for remote command and control with full time remote help desk.

The Results

Analytic Heat Maps told the comparative story of standard store layouts vs. modified Store of the Future layouts. Product selection assistant screens in stores reduced Team Member distraction allowing for more customer throughput. Store screens created new revenue opportunities for vendors in-store.
